hurting hearts

Dandelion wind

It feels so good to be back blogging again.  Time to time I have little breaks to deal with 'life' things.....like way too much washing to fold, last minute assignment freak-outs for college, etc etc.  But last week we were touched by the most beautiful of things, only to have to say goodbye instantly.  I normally don't blog about such personal stuff, so I am kind of surprising myself here.

My beautiful sister-in-law gave birth to the most gorgeous little, twin girls, Grace and Abby.  The were only 21 weeks old and unfortunately passed away.  While I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and grief their parents are feeling, it makes my heart literally ache.  The last week has been one of sorrow, then ultimately gratitude, that I can go and hold my little boy in my arms and tuck him into bed at night.  The little things that seem like routine, are really some of the most precious moments that we share.  We have been holed up in the Cabin over the last week enjoying some precious family time....and lots of big squeezy cuddles ♡

P.S. I would also like to say hello to all the lovely new readers (and the old ones too ;) thank you for stopping by.  And please enter Chantilly's lovely giveaway here.  I have decided to keep this giveaway open until the end of the week, since I have been around much lately.

stumbled

Lon.....................g week.  Yet little trinkets have been picked up while wandering around.  Has anyone else stumbled upon this beautiful collective yet?  Probably, but let me share for those who haven't.  It comes from the stunning mind of Laura aka Roots and Feathers.  Laura is possibly the most inspiring person in the blogosphere. Spend an hour or so pouring over her blog and you'll know why.  If you are inspired by a rotating collection of artists showcasing their seasonal wares, all for a good cause, then this is the place to be.

Hair doooooos!

My lovely friend Leah asked me to do some promotional work for her Toni & Guy salon this week (I think I was chosen because I'm known for getting a little crazy with my hair!).  I am a little, a lot excited about having a change.  Red has been fun, but it is costly and fades very quickly.  I can't wait to see what Leah and the gals have in store for me.  Here are some fun ideas that I'd love to take along to show them.  What do you guys think?

lunar love

Mr. Cabin is so clever.  He took these photos a little while back, down on our local beach.  I love them, they look so lunar-ish and the colours are so peaceful.  I rarely get down to the beach at this time of night!

the 'no-outfit post'

I feel a bit guilty sometimes that I have a blog that primarily started as a way to promote the vintage clothes we sell at markets and online.  Yet, where are the outfit posts I hear you ask? Apart from feeling like a bit of a dickhead posing in front of a camera, it is bloody hard to get some decent shots with a toddler running around ☺  Here is my recent attempt trying to show off a new (old) dress I found at a second hand store.  I love it because it has the 'diner waitress' look to it and works perfectly on its own, or with tights and a cardigan.  Can it get any more granny than that?  In the end, we gave up on the photos and had cuddles instead. xo

sharing is caring

I am the type of person who cannot sit down to complete a job or assignment without a wee bit (a lot) of procrastination.  It's hard not to be distracted by the lovely things you stumble across in blogland and on the interweb.  I came across MAEVE about a year ago and have been enchanted by this little online publication ever since.  It's 'real life' content celebrates human nature and allows us to be inspired by how others are living.  You may already be friends with MAEVE, but if not...pop over and say hi, you'll be glad you did.

The one benefit of spending way too much money for private health insurance is that I'm fooled into thinking I get a pair of free glasses every year.  Don't get me wrong, these one's have been great, but my left eye is getting lazier by the month.  Hopefully I will chance upon a pair that wont leave me looking like Sophia from the golden girls.  I'll be on the hunt for something as close to these as I can find!

.....and THIS IS THE CUTEST PIC EVER!!! (apart from the ones of my sweet bebe of course) - image

And why the over-saturated pic of myself you ask?  Bucket loads of concealer couldn't match the bags under my peepers today.
